MBUG Jersey

The MBUG jersey was designed locally to represent the Mitchell Shire.
It features a representation of Mt Piper, a local hill that is visible from most of our rides.
Manufactured by Ventou, the jerseys are made from ICE (Inner Cooling Efficiency) mock mesh fabric, which wicks body moisture in 3 dimensions away from the skin. ICE 3d has a Skin Protection Factor of 50+, making it suitable for extended periods outdoors.

Mitchell Bicycle Users Group applauds Mitchell Shire Council’s commitment to the Goulburn River High Country Rail Trail
The Mitchell Bicycle Users Group, on behalf of recreational cyclists in the Mitchell Shire, wishes to applaud the councillors of the Mitchell Shire Council for their acceptance of the motion to commence the development of the Goulburn River High Country Rail Trail.
After the successful conclusion of a costing and feasibility study by GMR Engineering as well as various other planning studies, it is now firmly established that the Rail Trail will have beneficial effects for the Shire, both commercially and for the health and welfare of its inhabitants.
The decision to move forward allows the Mitchell Shire to catch up with the work already commenced by Murrindindi and Mansfield Shires and to commit to further development of the Trail in partnership with those Shires.
MBUG applauds the allocation of Community Infrastructure Program funds to the Goulburn River High Country Rail Trail
The Mitchell Bicycle Users Group was thrilled today to receive notification of the allocation of $13 million towards the completion of the Goulburn River High Country Rail Trail as part of the Federal Government’s $800 million Community Infrastructure Program.
This allocation of funding is the largest to be made in the State of Victoria and reflects the value that both the State and Federal Government place on the development of the tourism potential in this region.
Now close to a reality, the rail trail will start at Tallarook, before heading off to Yea via Trawool and after just over 130km arriving at Mansfield, crossing three Shires as it does so.
“With a large length of this trail running along the Goulburn River, this trail has the potential to become one of the busiest Rail Trails in the state”, said MBUG President, Greg Jones, “especially considering that it will be one of the closest Rail Trails to Melbourne.
